Who is Nakia T. Hamilton?
When I learned my purpose isn’t my career, everything changed.
For years, I thought my purpose was tied to what I achieved, how far I climbed, or how many people knew my name. So when things didn’t go as planned in my career, I felt like I had failed at life itself. Depression creeps in when you believe you missed your “purpose,” especially when your dream feels deferred or denied.
But here’s what changed my life:
My purpose is not my profession. It’s to:
Know Christ – “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:3)
Reflect His character – “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)
Be part of His mission – “Go and make disciples of all nations...” (Matthew 28:19–20)
